The Cancer Institute NSW is the NSW Government’s cancer control agency, established to lessen the impact of cancer across the state.

What you will be doing

In this role you will be required to undertake complex strategic data analytics and modelling to improve the delivery of cancer screening and prevention services across NSW. You will have demonstrated experience in data mining techniques and using both machine learning and statistical analysis to summarise, simplify and understand complex processes, provide insights, make predictions, monitor and calibrate prediction performance.

Essential to the role will be your ability to engage with and influence stakeholders. You will be a team player that thrives in a collaborative, dynamic and evolving landscape to support the delivery of strategic information through to actionable insights.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in statistics, machine learning, computer science or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in statistics, machine learning, predictive analysis and modelling in R or Python.
  • Proficiency in querying relational databases with SQL.
  • Demonstrated understanding of privacy and health/personal information legislation, policies and standards.

All Cancer Institute roles are based at Eveleigh, however, the Ministry of Health will be relocating the Cancer Institute to St Leonards in mid-2020.

The Cancer Institute NSW is unable to offer salary packaging. Salaries will be negotiated commensurate to experience and qualifications of the role.
