We’re an independent, not-for-profit consumer organisation based in Melbourne. We run direct legal and financial counselling services that support vulnerable consumers in Australia. Our policy work and campaigns integrate the work of our direct services for high impact.
You’ll have a minimum of Certificate IV qualification in Legal Services, a Diploma of Legal Services, or equivalent relevant experience. Part of this role involves making appointments and follow up of documents with our clients, so demonstrable experience working in a client-facing role with persons experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage will be an advantage.
You have strong computer skills and familiarity with a variety of platforms including Office365.
Enthusiastic, energetic and flexible, you thrive on multi-tasking and are calm, resourceful and highly organised.
The legal assistant undertakes administrative and paralegal tasks for the legal practice so that solicitors and legal practice managers are supported to focus upon delivery of legal services.
Duties include assistance with electronic file management, client liaison and appointment booking, rostering for our advice line services, and litigation support.
The salary range offered will be $70,000 – 79,000. Consumer Action Law Centre offers FBT salary packaging therefore, depending upon personal financial circumstances, the value of the salary may be equivalent to up to approximately $5,000 - $7,000 higher. Additional benefits include:
