The Volunteer Team Leader is responsible for ensuring Cahoots’ volunteer workforce are confident and skilled in their roles and feel valued for their contributions to Cahoots.

Role Summary

The Volunteer Team Leader will positively contribute to our brand and culture whilst ensuring ongoing growth of the Cahoots volunteer team. The Volunteer Team Leader will develop, implement and maintain Cahoots’ volunteering strategy while continually improving our processes and procedures.

This role works with the Workforce Officer to deliver high quality training, induction and recognition plans for all volunteers, contributing to the successful delivery of Cahoots’ programs and services. 

The Volunteer Team Leader is a highly effective communicator, building positive relationships and partnerships with volunteer groups and individuals. Cahoots utilises a high volume of volunteers to deliver our services with the Volunteer Team Leader responsible for fulfilling these positions and ensuring the volunteer quality is of a high standard.  

Key functions of the role:

  • Development and implementation of a volunteer strategy, value proposition and action plan focused on retention, building capability and capacity of the team.
  • Leadership and oversight of the Workforce Officer, ensuring Cahoots’ operational delivery is enabled through provision of a capable volunteer workforce
  • Building and strengthening relationships and partnerships with community organisations, businesses, and groups relevant to growing Cahoots volunteering workforce.
  • Recruitment and onboarding of volunteers including inductions, training, and development plans for Cahoots volunteers
  • Planning, implementation, review and continuous improvement of all volunteer policies, systems, and processes
  • Develop and oversee training and development, reward & recognition and regular performance feedback / appraisals of volunteers
  • Management of data and reporting relevant to volunteers

The role will include liaising with new and current partners, including education and training institutes, corporate and community groups. This role’s ability to manage external and internal communication and build strong relationships through diverse stakeholders is crucial to the success of Cahoots.

To be successful in this role you:

  • Will be an advocate for Cahoots services with an interest in creating awesome experiences for people living with a disability.
  • Successful track record sourcing a high volume of quality volunteers
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in using systems to coordinate, roster and report a volunteer, casual or seasonal workforce.
  • Have a great attitude and are keen to learn and grow
  • Are able to prioritise a heavy workload and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and pitch in during busy periods.
  • Have demonstrated understanding of the value of volunteering in relation to personal growth, quality service delivery and supporting the community.
  • Hold a current driving licence

Desirable attributes:

  • Proven experience with a volunteer management system, in particular Better Impact.
  • Experience and/or understanding of the needs of people living with disability (including psychosocial and mental health concerns) and their families/carers.
