ABOUT THE ROLE

The Cobargo and District Energy Transition group (CaDET) has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Community Energy Coordinator to lead management and delivery of the Cobargo Community Energy Project (CCEP). This project aims to improve resilience, reduce emissions and generate local economic benefits through greater use of renewable energy and improved energy efficiency.

The Community Energy Coordinator will deliver a program of energy-focused community development activity that will also contribute to bushfire recovery, help restore community morale and strengthen social cohesion.

The Coordinator is a full time position until 31 March 2024 to be located in the Cobargo main street in a new community-owned Business Hub being developed as part of the recovery from the Black Summer bushfires. The position is funded through the Australian Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program as part of the Cobargo Community Energy Project.

  • Develop and implement initiatives to reduce barriers and increase uptake of energy efficiency and local renewable energy (e.g., workshops/information programs, group buys, energy audits, training activities)
  • Build partnerships with the local community, local builders and suppliers, the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries, Essential Energy, Bega Valley Shire Council and NSW and Australian Governments.
  • Seek additional funding, where required, for specific projects and activities.
  • Support the Cobargo Community Development Corporation in an energy-efficient rebuild of the Cobargo main street.
  • Assist CaDET and the local community in the development and use of energy-resilient refuges (funded through another element of the CCEP).
  • Coordinate the collection, monitoring and reporting of relevant data.
  • Assist CaDET in the administration of the project, including reporting progress and outcomes to the Australian Government.
