Bankstown Women’s Health Centre (BWHC) is a community-based feminist women’s health service. It was initiated by women, for women. BWHC looks at all aspects of women’s health and lifestyle. This includes Health and wellbeing, as well as intervention & treatment for health issues. BWHC has provided an important service to women for over 40 years, and have developed extensive networks, and established referral pathways.

We are seeking a suitably qualified Practitioner/Psychologist or Social Worker to work within a small dedicated trauma informed team, to deliver individual psychosocial therapy and interventions, and appropriate counselling under the auspices of Bankstown Women’s Health Centre on its premises, and under contractual arrangements.

Services provided at the Bankstown Women’s Health Centre Site, include Women’s Medical Clinic, Generalist Counselling, Casework, Dietetics, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Women’s Legal Clinic, Groups, Activities, Workshops, and resource information.

Job Description

The Clinician role involves the provision of comprehensive, evidence-based psychological and psychosocial individual interventions and therapy based on the client’s individual needs.

Essential Criteria

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Social Work, including current registration or eligibility to register with respective professional body.  
  2. Willing to work under your own registered Medicare provider number, hold a current Medicare Provider Number, and have your own Electronic funds transfer (EFT) payment machine ready to receive your payments.
  3. Minimum 2-year clinical practice within the mental health field. Ideally with experience working with clients experiencing domestic family violence and or mental health concerns 
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of  trauma informed strengths based interventions
  5. Demonstrated experience and a good understanding of working with Women
  6. Experience delivering, evidence-based practices and therapeutic interventions
  7. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate within a multidisciplinary team
  8. Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan and deliver individualised psychological interventions
  9. Woman only position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) 

Desirable Criteria:

  1. A Second language
  2. Experience working with specific populations (e.g. Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander populations, and CALD communities )
  3. Be able to start practising from the Centre ASAP or from the week of the 4th January 2021
