The Service is a not for profit independent incorporated association (which auspices Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre and Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centre and Tuggerah Out of School Hours Care) which delivers a range of programs and activities for children, youth and families. BVNC Inc. provides individualised support for vulnerable people and families including food relief, information, advice, referral, advocacy and support as well as pathways to employment. The service is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice.

Job Description

The Board of Governance of Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre Inc. is looking for a dynamic Service Manager to lead and oversee the day to day operations across both Berkeley Vale and Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centres. This also includes liaising with the Tuggerah Out of School Hours Care Program.

The Service requires a positive and empathetic leader with commitment to BVNC Inc.’s Vision and Mission demonstrating knowledge and understanding about the needs of the vulnerable and homeless people in the local community. A high level of interpersonal skills and experience in working within a community development framework and in partnership with other agencies is desirable.

It is expected that the applicant for this position also demonstrates well developed computer skills with a range of software packages.

The Service Manager is Responsible to the Board of Governance reporting directly to the President.

Conditions of Employment

  • The Service works under the SCHADS Award Level 6.3
  • Service Manager Position: Part-time 70 hours per fortnight over 5 days.
  • Position to commence early August 2022.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Services or equivalent (social science/human services/community services) with 5 years minimum experience.
  • Other requirements: Current First Aid Certificate; current Police Check and Working with Children’s Check.
  • Evidence of full Vaccination (immunisation injections and booster) against Covid-19, or provision of a current Medical Contraindication (Exemption) form.
  • Driver’s License and fully insured vehicle.

Key Areas of Responsibilities of the Service Manager

Leadership and Management of:

  • A team of Staff and Volunteers working collaboratively.
  • Funding and Accountability ie Targeted Early Intervention funded programs and services aligned to the DCJ Funding Agreement and the Service’s Program Logic.
  • Compliance requirements of the service including health and safety.
  • Assets and Financial Management.
  • Client Service provision including culturally appropriate service provision to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, people who identify as LGBTQI and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
