The opportunity; the person we seek:

The National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) is funded by the Australian Government to help build and maintain a nationally consistent approach to the prevention and management of eating disorders. The NEDC also makes evidence-based information accessible to a wide range of audiences across Australia. The Butterfly Foundation is the auspicing body for NEDC.

The NEDC is looking for a person with professional experience in a health field who seeks to utilise and further develop project management and leadership skills. You will lead our Primary Health Network (PHN) project, contribute to the strategic and operational leadership of the NEDC, and support team cohesion and development.

You will possess tertiary qualifications in health, social sciences, education, community development or a related discipline, with significant relevant work experience. You enjoy developing ideas and taking initiative, and you have a collaborative style of working. You care about where you work and you want to work somewhere that makes a real difference.

This role is a fixed term, full-time contract maternity leave back-fill position until the end of June 2021. A part-time role may be considered for the right candidate.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health, social sciences, education, community development or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including experience in developing, implementing and evaluating projects successfully and within agreed budget, scope and timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, client engagement and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organisational capacity, including time management skills, high level of accuracy, attention to detail and proven ability to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Knowledge of Primary Health Networks (PHN) and their purpose.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and online survey applications.
  • A proven team player who can also work well autonomously.
  • An understanding of eating disorders and body image issues and their impact on mental and physical health.
  • Understanding of the principles of evidence-based practice and their application in a health context.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and facilitating stakeholder engagement activities, education events, consultation and other initiatives.
  • Ability to undertake some inter and intra-state travel and work outside business hours as may be required.
  • Must hold a full (unrestricted) Australian drivers licence and have access to a reliable car for work related.
