Regional Volunteer Coordinator (paid role)

Bush Heritage Australia
  • Fantastic opportunity to work within a dedicated group of staff and volunteers
  • Ideal Location is Perth, Geraldton or Albany (flexible WA)
  • Part-time 0.6 FTE ongoing position

Bush Heritage Australia, a national leader in landscape-scale conservation, is seeking a talented Philanthropy Executive.

Bush Heritage Australia is a national leader in landscape-scale conservation. Independent and evidence-based, we work where we are needed most: in areas of high conservation value with low levels of protection. We protect and help manage 11.3 million hectares of land, providing habitat for over 6359 native species, including at least 243 threatened species. We have two proven approaches to what we do: we carefully select, purchase and manage landscapes of high conservation value; and we work in partnership with others, including Traditional Owners, to achieve conservation outcomes.

About the role:

We have a large and vibrant volunteer program of 1,100 volunteers across the nation that support our work on-ground at our reserves, from our Head Office and working from home to undertake research and administration projects.

The Volunteer Coordination Team consists of the National Volunteer Coordinator, North Regional Volunteer Coordinator and the West Regional Volunteer who looks after WA and SA volunteer placements.

This role is part of the West Team and reports directly to our WA Executive Manager and requires you to love working with people and enjoy juggling many moving parts each day. This is a home-based position, but we have staff and volunteers based in Perth and you will have the opportunity to regularly meet with them. The core duties include people management, recruitment, data management and reporting, scheduling, budget management, and working closely with our staff to devise new volunteer opportunities within the region.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Bush Heritage’s vision and values.
  • Experience in volunteer management and a thorough understanding of the sector and legislations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to build relationships to achieve specific outcomes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience communicating to a diversity of audiences including staff, management, partner organisations and volunteers.
  • Exceptional time and project management skills.
  • Availability to travel within Western Australia and interstate on an occasion, to gain knowledge of our properties as required.
