The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is now available for a talented Business Manager to join Burnet’s Tuberculosis Elimination and Implementation Science and Health team. In this role you will support the working group heads and work closely with the activity leads, program managers and Strategic Funding and Partnerships staff to ensure the effective implementation of the group’s activities and strategy including active engagement in business development.

You will be responsible for mentoring project managers, initiating and implementing business processes and system improvements, risk management, quality assurance, contract management and financial management of the suite of TB activities. You will also manage contracted activities/projects as required.

This position is full time, for an initial 12 month period with the possibility of extension. Refer to the attached position description for a full list of key responsibilities.

Let’s talk about you

You will possess significant experience in the management and implementation of large development and/or research projects, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. With strong experience in business development and an in-depth knowledge of donor contract management, you will also have outstanding project management, strategic planning and organisational skills, including experience with monitoring and evaluation.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent relationship management and communication skills, specifically working with clients, counterpart agencies and colleagues within cross-cultural teams in Australia or overseas. A willingness to travel internationally is also required (up to 6-8 weeks per year – this will be reduced and reviewed due to the impact of COVID-19 on travel), along with a university degree in a relevant field.

In-depth knowledge of the Australian and Asia- Pacific international development sector would also be desirable.
