Do you love working alongside children supporting their social & emotional needs?

Student Support Officers and Chaplains have a great role to encourage and develop children and young people to become all they can be through individual support and small group programs such as RAGE and Managing the Bull.

This role is part time, located in primary schools, and is ideal if you are looking to work during school hours, 5 hours per day, 2 days per week in Parramatta area.

Bridging the Gap, in partnership with the Department of Education, provides tailored support for primary aged children in Public schools.

Qualifications

Do you have a Certificate IV in Youth Work or a Diploma in Ministry, Youth or Welfare. A Degree in education, social work or psychology will be highly regarded.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and/or young people
  • Experience facilitating RAGE, Managing the Bull or similar is desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with young people, build relationships and resolve conflict
  • Experience working in a school environment would be an advantage
  • Understanding of issues affecting CALD & ATSI children and young people

Qualities

Are you a natural communicator, passionate about helping children discover their strengths and value, able to relate to people across all age groups in a range of settings?
