We’re looking for a professional Youth Transitions Coach with relevant experience who wants to join our 2,000+ team of staff and volunteers to make a difference on a 12 months maximum term full-time basis, working 38 hours per week based in Broadmeadows.

THE ROLE

Your role will be to build relationships with young people of refugee and migrant backgrounds, the wider local community, school and local specialist youth services. Working in partnership with the Program Coordinator and local service providers, you will deliver and coordinate a range of experiential learning activities to support the hub community. Youth activities will be aimed at building social connection, opening up pathways in education and employment, and building their networks and fostering opportunities.

  • Create a thriving environment which encourages young people to engage and become active in the hub
  • Build relationships with young people and the local community and discover their strengths, aspirations and goals
  • Informed by the aspirations of young people, plan activities in partnership with local service providers in the community which align with the program outcomes framework
  • Build strong relationships within the school, TAFE or community setting and support them to be able to develop young people’s participation and readiness to engage in education, training and employment

Salary will be in the range of $72,523.45 - $78,744.98 per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for a Youth transitions coach who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in the area of community development, youth work, education, settlement or related field
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge and understanding of policy and practice in the area of education, employment, homelessness, and disadvantage among young people in the Australian context
  • Knowledge and experience working on/supporting place based, people centric community development projects
