We’re looking for a professional Youth Program Coordinator Practice with relevant experience who wants to join our 2,000+ team of staff and volunteers to make a difference on a maximum term full time basis, working 37.5 hours per week based in Fitzroy.

THE ROLE

This position will be responsible for the coordination, documentation and resource development to support the NYEB demonstration sites develop and community-led responses to youth unemployment. This will include being responsible for the development, adaptation and tailoring of key resources and materials to different service contexts and driving the implementation of the NYEB model through youth employment actions plans, tools and resources with partner organisations. The role will have a strong focus on the implementation of the capabilities approach, including youth participation, across the NYEB sites, and will support the Transitions to Work National Community of Practice in this work. This role will also work to inform the development of key learnings, policy and advocacy messages and materials, to connect to and inform national responses to youth unemployment through the NYEB.

  • Provide coordination and support to practice and service development working groups, including the national youth alliance;
  • Support the establishment, coordination and implementation of Community Investment Committees across up to five NYEB demonstration sites, in partnership with the manager and Lead Partner organisations, providing a central contact point for community organisations across Australia to ensure that there is the fidelity of the service model
  • Facilitate and undertake workshops and trainings with Community Investment Committees to support and guide local youth employment solutions 

Salary will be $74,531.95 to $80,194.32 per annum based on skills and experience plus superannuation.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for an who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in the area of education, youth, community services or a related field;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing youth-focused projects;
  • Demonstrated experience in community-development and practice focused on youth education and employment;
  • Demonstrated experience in service development and high level written and visual communication skills;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build effective, collaborative relationships;
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to project plan, prioritise and meet deadlines and drive outcomes, and the ability to be flexible and adaptable;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting high quality training with a range of stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated experience in co-designing and implementing practice innovation in community settings;
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge and understanding of policy and practice in the area of education, employment, and disadvantage among young people in the Australian context;
  • Proven youth focus and experience, with an understanding of and commitment to the values and ideals of the Youth Department including the Advantaged Thinking approach;
  • Understanding and commitment to the values of BSL;
  • Victorian Drivers License 

Mandatory Employment Criteria

  • Specific work requirements include regular interstate travel
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia is required
  • A satisfactory Police Check is required. The Brotherhood will facilitate this process
  • A Working with Children Check is required for this position. The Brotherhood will facilitate this process.
