We’re looking for a professional Policy Advisor with relevant experience who wants to join our 2,000+ team of staff and volunteers to make a difference on a Permanent Full-Time basis, working 38 hours per week based in Fitzroy.

THE ROLE

Play a key role in the development of employment and employment services policy analysis and development within the Work and Economic Security research team. This means actively engaging in public debate, latest research and service delivery experience in relation to employment services and related issues.

The outputs of the policy work will directly inform BSL’s policy advocacy and influencing efforts at a state and federal level. 

  • Work collaboratively within teams to achieve common goals.
  • Undertake complex independent analysis and reporting on trends in employment and employment services, to provide the evidence and knowledge base that will inform our policy and advocacy agenda.
  • Actively support the overall RPC strategic leadership and management.
  • Contribute to, and/or collaborate on the implementation of dissemination and promotion strategies, including; making presentations, hosting events, authoring and co-authoring peer reviewed and other publications.  

Salary will be in the range of $85,264.31 - $89,124.91 per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • A postgraduate social science or policy degree with relevant policy experience or an equivalent combination of relevant tertiary education and policy experience
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and proven ability to successfully apply them to complex legislative, policy and procedural issues.
  • Demonstrated high level written communication skills including the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex issues and risks in high level documentation including reports and briefings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of people to provide consistent, responsive and high quality advice and project support.
  • Highly-developed administration, computer skills and competency in Microsoft Program
