The Community Programs division is one of seven divisions at the Brotherhood of St Laurence and exists to engage with individuals and communities, empowering them and building their capacity through providing services, advocacy and community regeneration. The Work, Economic Security and Social Inclusion (WESSI) unit sits within this division with a specific focus on maximising people’s employment readiness, financial capacity building, as well as fostering a sense of social and community inclusion.

ParentsNext - This program works with parents to help them to identify their education and employment goals, develop a pathway to achieve their goals and links them to activities and services in the local community. This program is funded by the Australian Government and more information about it can be accessed at https://www.employment.gov.au/parentsnext. Participants may engage voluntarily or be referred directly into the service by Centrelink via the ESS diary system. This program is delivered from the following regions: South East and Peninsula (Dandenong, Frankston North, Pakenham), North Eastern (Epping, Preston), North Western (Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Sunbury) and Inner Metro (Fitzroy) regions

Main responsibilities of the role: 

The role of the ParentsNext Support Officer is to be the first point of contact for ParentsNext Participants, as well internal and external stakeholders, providing administrative support to the ParentsNext team. This will include assisting with daily office operations including reception, customer service, participant engagement and general administration duties.

The incumbent will deliver this program from all ParentsNext sites in the relevant regions, depending on operational requirements.

To meet the selection criteria, candidates will require:

• Relevant qualifications in Business Administration or demonstrated experience in an administration or customer service position preferably in a community-based or employment services organisation/setting
• Proven ability to work independently and within a team to achieve program outcomes
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to build professional relationships with a broad range of people from CALD backgrounds and liaise across all levels both internally and externally
• Excellent administration skills with demonstrated ability to keep accurate and timely data and records
• Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan workload, prioritise and meet deadlines/ KPIs
• Demonstrated knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook, and databases
• Understanding of and empathy with the values and ideals of the Brotherhood

This is a full time position working 38 hours per week, based in Epping.

Salary will be in the range $48,855.04- $53,303.06 per annum. Attractive salary packaging provisions are available to increase take home pay.
