Summary of program and its objectives:

The Work and Learning Division of the Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) seeks to assist people to live and work independently through access to effective, high quality employment, training and Support programs. The department also advocates for appropriate and innovative community responses to employment and related issues. Current programs in the Work and Learning Division include:

ParentsNext: This program works with parents to help them to identify their education and employment goals, develop a pathway to achieve their goals and links them to activities and services in the local community. This program is funded by the Australian Government and more information about it can be accessed at https://www.employment.gov.au/parentsnext. Participants may engage voluntarily or be referred directly into the service by Centrelink via the ESS diary system. This program is delivered from the following regions: South East and Peninsula (Dandenong, Frankston North, Pakenham), North Eastern (Epping, Preston), North Western (Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Sunbury) and Inner Metro (Fitzroy) regions

Main responsibilities of the role:

We have an exciting opportunity available to join the Brotherhood of St Laurence, South East and Peninsula ParentsNext team as a Parent Engagement Facilitator

In this role you will engage and help ParentsNext program Participants to identify and to achieve their education and employment goals. In addition, the successful applicant will establish and maintain referral pathways and relationships with local service providers and community organisations etc.

To meet the selection criteria, candidates will require:

  • A strong track record of successfully supporting disadvantaged jobseekers into sustainable employment, training, work experience or volunteering, including providing encouragement, case work support and career planning and guidance.
  • Knowledge about the causes and consequences of unemployment and activities that are successful in helping people develop pathways to achieve an employment goal, including working to people’s strengths and capabilities
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to build professional relationships with a broad range of people from CALD backgrounds and liaise across all levels both internally and externally
  • Excellent administration skills with demonstrated ability to keep accurate and timely data and records
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan workload, prioritise and meet deadlines/ KPIs
  • Proven ability to work independently and within the team to as required to meet objectives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook, and databases.
  • Understanding of and empathy with the values and ideals of the Brotherhood.

This is a full time position working 38 hours per week.

Salary will be  in the range of $61,081.28-$65,723.84 per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation. Attractive salary packaging provisions are available to increase take home pay.
