We’re looking for a professional Outreach Therapeutic Worker with relevant experience who wants to join our 2,000+ team of staff and volunteers to make a difference on a Permanent Part-Time basis, working 22.8 hours per week based in Frankston.

THE ROLE

This position will provide therapeutic support through an outreach mode of delivery to the students and their families participating in the Re-engagement Program, a partnership program between Brotherhood of St Laurence and Monterey Secondary College, for Year 7 to Year 9 students who have disengaged from school or are at risk of disengagement. This is conducted through consultation, therapeutic sessions and interventions, planning in a holistic framework, and risk management, and will include remote learning and outreach opportunities, accommodating for all students’ needs. The position will aim to achieve student and family well-being in line with the Re-engagement Program’s Practices and is a collaborative approach in a partnership with School Staff.

  • Provide a range of evidence based therapies through individual, group and family work, for students and their family, undertaking an integrated approach to support a trauma informed education model
  • Support the student and their families to achieve improved self-regulation and problem solving capacities in their education participation
  • Develop sustainable skills and strategies to improve well-being and family functioning
  • Support the student and their families to connect with external referral pathways based on individual circumstances and needs
  • Develop individualised and tailored delivery learning plans for each student, inclusive of remote learning and outreach opportunities, accommodating for all students’ needs.

Salary will be in the range of $85,264.31 to $89,124.91 pro rata per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for an who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Relevant tertiary degree qualifications in social work, psychology, occupational therapy or family therapy with eligibility for membership with appropriate professional body
  • Well-developed knowledge of youth issues, community development principles and leading practice program and service response. 
  • Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic interventions and counselling practices
  • Understanding and knowledge of trauma informed practices, mental health and well-being interventions, and working with vulnerable families and diverse communities
