Exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Child Consultant to join our Macquarie Park office, with some travel to other RANSW. As a Child Consultant you will be responsible for providing a Child Inclusive Practice (CIP) within the Family Dispute Resolution Process (FDRP) for families. This role will be a 2-year fixed term contract, working 3 days per week with days of work to be negotiated with the successful candidate.

About the role:

Some of the responsibilities of the successful candidates will include:

  • Assess the suitability of clients for CIP in consultation with FDRP
  • Provide a range of services for family's post-separation who are experiencing conflict and are unable to reach agreement regarding parenting arrangements for their children and property and financial matters
  • Assess, coach and feedback to parents to support their parenting and decision making
  • Work with the FDRP to assist parents to formulate developmentally appropriate post-separation parenting agreements
  • Provide information to clients about follow up services to support post separation parenting including information about counselling, family therapy and services for children

About the successful candidate

As the successful candidate you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social science, Social Work, Psychology or counselling, specialising in working with Children
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to provide Child Inclusive Practice when working with Children & Young people, inclusive of knowledge of child development
  • Experience working with parents and children and young people
  • Experience working with families post-separation and issues facing separating families
  • Experience in assessment of children and young people at risk of harm and mandatory reporting
  • Knowledge specialising in parenting, mental health, domestic and family violence
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills with a focus on interacting with children and parents
