About the Role

Exciting opportunity for professional, motivated and friendly practitioners to fill 2 part time roles for our new service. The primary duties of this role are providing telephone and into the future online counselling to clients in rural and remote WA who have been impacted by domestic or family violence. Working within a newly established clinical framework, the roles will provide triage, risk assessments and safety planning, information and referral and both single and multi session phone counselling. Our operating hours when we first commence will be Monday-Friday (9am -7pm) and over time we will move to a seven day a week service with expanded hours. Being a new service, we are seeking staff who can be flexible and adaptable to support our clients as the service evolves. The role will be located in our new office in Subiaco.

About You (Essential Requirements)

  • Applicants will ideally have relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling, behavioural or social sciences or other appropriate qualification/s and solid experience in the FDV sector.

Other essential requirements include:

  • Able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the barriers and complexities that exist for regional, rural and remote WA communities in accessing services
  • 2 years + experience in supporting people who have been impacted by FDV (telephone counselling experience would be well regarded)
  • Knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of services within the FDV sector
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a challenging and demanding (although rewarding) work environment and maintain composure and effective engagement with clients
  • Sound IT skills and experience working with a variety of databases
  • Friendly, positive and flexible approach to work activities
  • Available to comment by mid to late September 2020 and availability to attend 2 weeks part-time training during this time.
