Bower Reuse & Repair Centres is a leader in campaigning for the Right to Repair in NSW and a strong advocate for the introduction of educational programs encouraging repair practices in Australian society.

Our organisation is looking for a highly knowledgeable and personable applicant to fulfill a newly created role as a Waste & Right To Repair Consultant.

The person who fills this role will assist The Bower in assessing recent government findings and determining a course of action for our organisation to take.

The consultant will:

  • Contribute to and oversee campaign strategy around the Right to Repair, including preparing submissions and assessing how to best influence the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into the Right to Repair as well as future legislative decisions;
  • Assess and summarise the state of play nationally and in NSW regarding waste issues and how The Bower can best contribute to and influence decisions around these issues;
  • Assess the upcoming NSW Waste 2020 strategy and ascertain opportunities for The Bower’s involvement throughout the implementation of this strategy;
  • Assess the NSW plastics policy and assess opportunities for The Bower from July 2021 to 2024 and beyond;
  • Assess campaigning opportunities for The Bower to influence government policies across the above issues at local, NSW state and Federal government levels; and
  • Assess and communicate funding opportunities for The Bower on the above initiatives.

Timing: Ideally this role will commence in August 2021 and continue for up to a two-month period (pending the availability of the successful candidate).

This role will report to Bower Reuse & Repair Centre’s GM for the duration of the contract. It is expected that the successful candidate will report to The Bower’s Senior Management Team and current Board Members for the September board meeting.
