The Bower is an environmental charity committed to the reuse, repair and recycling of household items collected from 21 Councils across Sydney. Waste is impacting our environment and our society with landfills polluting our soil and creating emissions that heat our planet and contribute to climate change. The Bower undertakes to redirect waste from landfills, provide courses that teach people how we can reuse, recycle and upcycle our household items and the Bower offers opportunities for people to gain job skills that support and increase their employment opportunities. The Bower also delivers programs that provide household items at no cost for vulnerable and disadvantaged families being rehomed after a period of homelessness, to enable their new house to become a home.
The Collections, Distribution and Retail Manager oversees the collections across Sydney of household items from the 21 Councils. This is a significant logistical operation that requires a mindful and organised individual who is able to operate autonomously making quick decisions when necessary. Working with outside agencies as well as multiple sections of the Bower, you will manage household collections and their distribution to our Retail operations and our support programs whilst also identifying items for use as parts in our repairs section and those that could be used in our courses.
This position manages staff and volunteers.
As part of the Senior Management team you will have experience in retail preferably second hand retail alongside a minimum of two years managing people. You will need to demonstrate organisational ability as it applies to the logistics of collections and distributions (supply, transportation, warehousing).
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a NSW Police Check and must have the right to work in Australia. This is a full-time position.
