This leading youth services provider has been operating for over 40 years across Sydney's Inner West and Northern Beaches. Their overarching goal is to prevent youth homelessness and family breakdown by providing a range of innovative accommodation, care and support services to young people aged between 9 and 24 and their families.

The Role

As the new Carer Support and Recruitment Specialist (CSRS), you'll be responsible for ensuring foster carers are equipped to provide a safe, supportive and caring environment to young people in the care of this organisation.

Reporting to the Carer Support and Recruitment Coordinator and based in either the Brookvale or the St Peters office, you'll take the lead on carer support, providing ongoing training and assessment of carers and matching these carers to young people.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the ongoing recruitment and retention strategy for carers
  • Drive carer recruitment campaigns including coordinating information evenings, one on one information sessions and training sessions for prospective carers
  • Conduct thorough carer assessments
  • Provide regular individual and group support to carers
  • Support the delivery of ongoing carer specific training around managing challenging behaviours and trauma informed care
  • Participate in an on call roster where required

About You

  • Minimum Diploma in social work or social sciences
  • Experience working with foster carers highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to engage with a wide range of people
  • Supervisory skills and ability to deliver effective coaching and training to carers
  • Knowledge of the issues faced by children and young people in the Out of Home Care and wider Child Protection sectors
  • Knowledge of the consequences of trauma which is associated with child abuse and neglect

In addition, the following are mandatory requirements for this role

  • Current driver's license
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Federal police check
