Black Swan Health is one of the largest primary health care organisations in WA.

This multi-award winning company employs a full multi-disciplinary health professional and disability services team.

With several funding streams, Black Swan Health delivers a range of primary health services including (but not limited to), diabetes and multidisciplinary chronic conditions services, psychology and counselling services, youth mental health services, community early psychosis treatment and recovery programs, street doctor services, psychosocial disability services and disability services.

Due to a growing demand for our services, we are looking for a passionate, youth friendly Registered Psychologist who is experienced in providing high quality mental health services.

Working with Black Swan Health provides you with an opportunity to work within a supported multidisciplinary environment providing intervention and treatment for mental health and related issues in young people aged 12-25 years of age at our headspace Osborne Park and Joondalup Centres

Role Requirements:

• Provide focused psychological strategies to eligible clients under various programs offered by Black Swan Health, inclusive of headspace Joondalup and headspace Osborne Park.
• Also provide services under other funding streams within Black Swan Health as required; e.g. NDIS.
• Undertake individual psychological assessment, risk assessment and therapeutic interventions; e.g. cognitive behaviour therapy, behaviour therapy, psychotherapy, family therapy, systems interventions, and counselling.
• Manage an allocated case load by providing a range of therapeutic interventions, education, counselling and clinical care to clients, families and friends.
• Maintain accurate and up to date client records in line with Black Swan Health policies and procedures.
• Report to referring GPs on client progress to ensure best client outcomes and appropriate on-referral pathways.

Key Requirements For The Role

• Degree in Psychology and full and current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated proficiency in psychological assessment, therapy and interview techniques that are in the best interest of the client.
• Demonstrated clinical experience with adolescents and young people; including early intervention strategies, counselling, support and advice to individuals and groups.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical care of young people presenting with various mental health presentations including, but not limited to, anxiety and depression, suicidal ideation and co-morbidities such as alcohol and other drug issues; young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; young people identifying as LGBTI; and young people with other barriers to accessing mental health support.
• Thorough knowledge of research, evidence based theory, and clinical practice applicable to the relevant client groups.
• Ability to monitor and assess risk concerns, including risk of harm to self or others, or mental deterioration.
• Experience and competency in clinical liaison with GPs and allied health professionals.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal liaison skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals and external agencies both on individual patient-management matters and on general service issues.
• High level time management skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to function with a high degree of competence and initiative, under general to limited direction together with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A thorough knowledge of the laws and ethical standards governing psychological practice.
• Current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health.

Desirable

• Experience in the delivery of community and clinical services.
• Board approved supervisor endorsement.

Requirements for Employment

• Current National Police Clearance.
• Valid Working with Children Check.
• Eligibility for Medicare provider number.
• Full registration by the Psychology Board of Australia must be provided prior to commencement.
• Minimum identification proofing requirements.
