Post-Fire Assessment Coordinator - Cryptic Heathland Birds

This is an exciting new opportunity to join BirdLife Australia (BirdLife) working with BirdLife staff, government agencies, and species experts from Vic, NSW, and QLD to assess the impacts of the 2019/2020 summer fires on Mainland Ground Parrot and Eastern Bristlebird.

With over 175,000 supporters, 90 staff, and a national network of community groups, BirdLife is one of the country’s foremost wildlife conservation organisations.

In this new Post-fire Assessment Coordinator - Cryptic Heathland Birds position, you will be responsible for coordinating, undertaking, and reporting on surveys, leading on the development of national monitoring regimes, and contributing to the development of up-to-date national recovery plans for Mainland Ground Parrot and Eastern Bristlebird.

We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced bird surveyor with a strong interest in and knowledge of threatened species conservation and recovery programs. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare project reports and publications, project coordination skills, experience in analysing datasets, and an understanding of Geographic Information Systems and mapping.

This is a fixed-term full-time position available until 31 October 2021.
