Who we are:

Launch Housing has an ambitious and singular mission to end homelessness. We aim to get people housed, keep them housed, and be an influential voice on ending homelessness. We are a secular, independent provider of choice for clients and the 'go to' organisation on homelessness for government, media, philanthropy, private donors and the community.

Launch Housing teams are working to ensure that we continue to deliver a high-quality service to our clients while taking protective measures to ensure the safety of both our staff and clients in the current situation.

What you'll do:

Reporting to the Group Work Program Coordinator you will have the opportunity to create positive environment for children to play and learn. You will be responsible for organising and facilitating therapeutic and recreational groups for children and parents who have experienced homelessness and/or family violence. In addition, you will:

  • Develop work groups where needed, pilot these groups, and embed them in practice
  • Empower parents to support their children in relation to their developmental, social and emotional needs
  • Link children and parents to the local community, and provide referrals to local support services as necessary
  • Participate in service review and development, with a view to enhancing the provision of effective and efficient work groups

Who you are:

To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for working with children and parents experiencing homelessness and a strong determination to deliver innovative and effective services of the highest possible standard to our clients.

You will also have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood or a related discipline
  • Experience in the social service sector, preferably working with children with complex needs
  • Experience with and knowledge of issues affecting children and families experiencing homelessness and/ or family violence
  • An understanding of the ages and stages of childhood development
  • Demonstrated ability to implement a trauma informed approach when designing and facilitating group work programs
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
