How you'll help change lives

As a Housing Case Manager, you will play an important role in the program that operates collaboratively with the drug court team at Melbourne Drug Court to assist DTO participants who are moving in or already residing in leased properties to address issues exacerbating their risk of homelessness and the factors that contribute to their offending. Housing focused support is provided to enhance the likelihood of a successful completion of their drug treatment order. You will be required to work at the Drug Court offices one day a week.

You will assist with immediate and ongoing support needs of clients experiencing or at risk of homelessness, through the provision of a range of intervention options ensuring that the client's needs are translated into a personal program that encourages the client's independence, empowerment, autonomy and dignity. This support may be provided in a range of environments including funded accommodation services, private housing or via assertive outreach to clients experiencing housing crisis.

What you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for working with people experiencing homelessness and a determination to deliver innovative and effective services of the highest possible standard to our clients. You will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in human services and experience working with complex clients with diverse needs
  • Understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context and systems
  • Experience in the social welfare sector, working with consumers with complex support needs
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Valid driver's license
