CatholicCare NT Youth Outreach Services aim to effectively assist young people in Tennant Creek who are at risk of homelessness & to stabilise their personal circumstances.

By engaging them in intensive support and case management and aid in enhancing the capacity of other related service sectors to respond effectively to young people who have complex needs and are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The service supports vulnerable young people (12-18 years) to re-engage with their families and community and address issues impacting upon their social and emotional wellbeing which may lead to behaviour that is harmful to self and or others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop tailored case management plans with clients that support the young person's needs with a focus on encouraging family reengagement.
  • Regular face to face meetings with the young person and their family
  • Engagement with school training and employment
  • Facilitating connection to opportunities for volunteering or opportunities to participate in community events and festivals, sporting clubs & events.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Relevant qualification/experience in youth work and understanding of youth developmental stages and the impact trauma can have upon these.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including experience in engaging young people who are marginalised and disengaged from community
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma informed practice principles and family centred practice
  • Experience in engaging a variety of key stakeholders to develop support strategies/plans which address the social and emotional wellbeing of the target group
