We are looking for a Case Manager to join our IFPS team in Darwin. are you passionate about working to support children and families who are at risk of being separated, and can see yourself delivering intervention and support services that help to protect children from harm, we want to hear from you!!!

The Intensive Family and Parenting Support (IFPS) provides intensive, targeted interventions and support to families identified as being at high risk of having their child removed from their care due to ongoing safety concerns. The program addresses identified safety concerns, improves the capability of the family to care and protect their child/children and ensure that the child/children remain at home safely.

the Intensive Family and Parenting Support program aims to build and sustain safe and nurturing environments for children to thrive, increase family resilience and capacity, building stronger, safer and healthier families.

The objectives of the program are:

  • Protect children from harm;
  • Reduce child safety concerns;
  • Build resilience and capability in referred families to care for and protect their child; and
  • Preserve the family and allow the child to live safely at home.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work, Counselling or Case Management and/or relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including case note and reporting writing and the ability to network and work collaboratively with stakeholders and other agencies.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child and family safety and risk and knowledge about the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007.
  • Ability to work from a strength-based approach and ability to reflect on own practice and its impact on behavioural changes within families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and issues impacting on families, especially poverty, domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse.
