About the facility

Barwon Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Service (BMHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy excellent internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.

About the role

This role provides strategic vision, financial accountability and professional leadership to the program areas which provide integrated mental health and drug and alcohol treatment and support in University Hospital Geelong and community settings. The role includes building and maintaining strong partnerships both internally and externally.

This position provides strategic and operational support to:

  • The Swanston Centre
  • PARC / CRF
  • Hospital, AIS (Emergency Mental Health, PACER, PROMPT, Consultation Liaison)
  • Community, AIS (Phone Triage, Community outreach function, MHARS)

Functions will include:

  • Providing support to the Managers of the AIS stream
  • Leading change initiatives, which will require proactive staff and union consultation, and development of change impact statement/s
  • Providing input into major capital works projects, including the Swanston Centre and the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MH&AOD) hub in the emergency department
  • Attending and participating in Department of Health and Human Services forums in Melbourne (e.g., MH&AOD hub, HOPE).
