Anglicare has an excellent career development opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner based at Bondi Junction.

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, you will provide behaviour support, assessment, training, development and/or therapy to assist NDIS participants to develop or increase skills for independence and community participation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Utilise a variety of therapeutic tools to support participants to achieve functional improvement through adjustment, adaption and building capacity to participate in the broader community.
  • Develop behaviour support plans that increase a persons quality of life and as a result reduce the occurrence and impact of behaviours of concern and meet individual needs.
  • Ensure that choice and control of participants and their safety and welfare drives all actions and decision making by working collaboratively with service providers, carers and other organisations.
  • Ensure that participants are involved in implementing their NDIS plan as much as possible by facilitating and encouraging participants to work toward their NDIS goals and increase their capacity to become more independent.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications for the professions of Psychologist, Social Worker or Counsellor and current membership to professional body (AHPRA, AASW, Australian Counselling Association or equivalent).
  • Good understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • Experience in working with people with complex mental health challenges
  • NSW Drivers licence and Working with Children’s Check for paid employment purposes.
  • Desirable but not essential: Experience in providing NDIS therapy services
  • Desirable but not essential: Experience providing Behaviour Support services
