BHC Creating Liveable Communities is an independent, not-for-profit developer, owner and manager of affordable and community housing. BHC's Vision is "Creating homes, empowering lives, enabling transformation" and Mission "to deliver our Vision by building and maintaining quality affordable homes for people in need and engaging with and supporting people to sustain their tenancies".

Due to parental leave within the team, we have a full time, fixed-term contract available for a high-performing, experienced property manager with a strong background in the management of rental housing, including households with complex needs such as those living with a disability. While the role is initially on a fixed-term basis, due to strong growth plans for developing more affordable rental stock there exists a genuine opportunity for long-term employment beyond the initial parental leave cover.

The role is based in Brisbane CBD on Ann Street at BHC’s brand new head office within easy walking distance from Central Station with a proportion of the week spent in the field at site offices. The majority of BHC's portfolio is located in the inner city and north Brisbane.

More about the Role & Our Team

Part of a team of 6 Housing Managers and reporting to the Tenancy Services Manager, this exciting opportunity will see you responsible for the day-to-day tenancy, property management and delivery of effective tenancy management practices for BHC directly managed properties. Our properties range from 3 bedroom through to studios and boarding rooms.

Our Housing Managers are an exceptionally skilled team with contemporary knowledge of tenancy regulations and property management who support each other and ensure they create their fair share of fun. What sets our property managers apart is their community-minded focus and commitment to working with tenants to ensure that both BHC and our tenants benefit from a long-term tenancy through ensuring that tenancies are sustainable, well managed and compliant with all relevant regulations and requirements. As a property manager with BHC, you won't report to multiple owners and you can be assured that we are serious about the long-term investment in maintaining the standard of our properties. We strive to balance providing a home for and potentially improving the wellbeing of lower income and vulnerable people, with the commerciality of working in a professional and sustainable business environment.

Why join our team?

At BHC there is a strong focus on a good working culture with many staff having worked in the organisation long-term. As a mission-based organisation that provides housing for people on lower incomes, values-based people tend to be drawn to working with BHC. Whilst being entrepreneurial, there is a strong heart. Staff are hardworking, and there is a strong history of internal promotions and movement across teams. Longevity of tenure is for the same reason staff are attracted to the organisation – because they enjoy making a difference.

Policies are in place that underpin the working environment to make BHC an employer of choice where staff are given autonomy. We have a focus on work-life balance including compressed work hours options. Staff also have access to generous salary packaging benefits to increase take home pay, social events including quarterly staff lunches; end of month drinks and nibbles and team challenges/games. BHC has a focus on supporting staff health and wellness including fortnightly massages and reflexology, an EAP program for staff and their families, and a market-leading parental leave policy offering up to 14 weeks’ full pay. The office environment is modern (and the coffee great!) with a culture that reflects our core values of making a difference, working with integrity, supporting each other, working safely, our differences, being accountable and delivering quality, and celebrating achievements.
