About you the role

The Community Support Worker requires solid experience engaging and assisting clients with their daily living skills. In this role you are a truly purpose-driven professional whose personal values are aligned to ours. You are a team player and treat everyone with respect. More specifically, to be successful in this role you will:

  • Abide by BGF and Client Services team’s established policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with BGF’s Caseworkers, Case Managers and other service providers to achieve improved health and wellbeing outcomes for your clients;
  • Deliver high quality support services to meet the identified needs of BGF clients living in the community by performing a variety of duties including medication prompting, shopping, light cleaning, meal delivery, as well as taking clients to their appointments;
  • Help clients overcome social isolation;
  • Proactively develop and maintain client relationships that facilitate progress towards planned and agreed levels of independence and participation; and
  • Write case notes on client contact and outcomes for client record keeping purposes.

In addition, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services (either completed or in progress)
  • Current, valid driver's licence with an unblemished record
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Provide or undergo a ‘Working with Children’ clearance
  • Undergo a Police Records Check (arranged through BGF)
  • Provide COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued by the Australian Government (Due to the public funding arrangement we require all employees to be vaccinated at this point of time)

HIV treatment has come a long way since the 80s, but with a diverse new generation of PLHIV facing stigma reminiscent of the 80s, the need for support remains strong. BGF works to change social attitudes around HIV, to reduce fear, discrimination and stigma and promote acceptance and understanding, working also at a systemic level to influence policy and service development.
