Tupaia.org is looking for a UI/UX designer! We build software that supports health and education projects in the Pacific Islands and other low and middle income countries. Our aim is to make the experience intuitive and beautiful, so that it is a pleasure for users to explore interactive graphs, maps, and other visualisations to enable evidence-informed decision making, even if they are not totally comfortable with tech or data.
We have an existing designer who does an amazing job, but is only available one day a week. This role would be for three days per week, initially being led by the existing designer, but with a view to take over entirely in the new year.
Right now we're working remotely until restrictions ease but the office is on Nicholson St in Brunswick East - close to Lygon Street with its Cafés, restaurants and bars - and there is a big park just behind our building.
With a talented team across Melbourne and NZ, we're a small, friendly group of people bonded by a desire to make awesome technology, and put it to good use in the world. We hope to find someone else who is technically talented, excited by the work we do, and able to take initiative as well as collaborate with a team.
Work/life balance isn’t an afterthought. We offer reasonable work hours and flexibility, our staff juggle kids, second jobs, study and really unreasonable close relatives.
Any generic cover letters won't receive a response, so please indicate that you're interested in this job specifically by mentioning your favourite fruit. We would especially encourage you to apply if you are from a community that’s underrepresented in the tech industry.
