About the role

Our team is growing! As a Project Manager in the BES team, you’ll be working on projects that directly impact our overall mission. Our software suite includes Tupaia and Tamanu and we also implement and support mSupply and DHIS2 systems.

Currently, we are supporting several countries with digital health transformations across multiple platforms. This role will work with a partner Ministry of Health, helping define required reports and map information flows to support evidence-based data for decision making. The role is multi-faceted, ranging from designing data models and outputs, to developing data collection tools and training staff in their use. We have a strong focus on real-time data visibility and the role will focus on ensuring high quality, useful data is available to decision makers when needed.

It is not necessary to have used any of the BES tech stack (Tupaia, Tamanu, mSupply, DHIS2) but experience with eHealth or digital systems is highly desired.

This includes a substantial amount of in-country travel, particularly within the Pacific region.

The job is likely to involve approximately 75% travel outside Australia with first travel to commence after approximately 4 weeks of on-boarding.

Day to day, you will:

  • Work with senior Ministry of Health staff to define reports and other data outputs required across all systems
  • Liaise with the rest of the project and software teams to customise reporting and visualisations
  • Ensure data models and reporting tools are fit for purpose to meet required outputs
  • Implement Tupaia software, including requirements gathering, building tools, training, change management and provide at-the-elbow implementation as reasonably requested
  • Liaise with all project partners, including report writing, presentations, product promotion and meetings
  • Work with other Project Managers to support the implementation of other BES products and services including Tamanu and mSupply
  • Ensure compliance with policies (including Child Protection Policy) and fiduciary responsibilities in the carrying out of contracts
  • Provide software demonstrations and trainings as required on BES and related software, including Tupaia, Tamanu, mSupply and DHIS2
  • Attend meetings and conferences on behalf of BES
  • Other duties as reasonably requested

About you

Ideally, you’ll have experience in:

  • Experience working in complex and dynamic roles across health, or health technology projects in either a data management or health system management capacity
  • Experience in low resource settings
  • Experience and sensitivity working in culturally diverse settings
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work with individuals from a variety of skillsets (including Project Managers, Health Professionals and Software developers)
  • Resilience working in tough environments, with a high level of autonomy and the ability to solve problems coupled with the ability to recognise when assistance is required and the willingness to ask for that assistance
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • High comfort with and ability to learn new technology
  • Comfortable travelling during current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions (with approval from Department of Home Affairs and in-country government partners)
  • Qualifications in one of: Data Management, Public Health, Project Management or Health Technology

Having familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) or work experience in the Pacific would also be an advantage (but not required).
