Beyond Blue’s Finance, Risk and Commercial team directly support the business in making smart decisions that ensure sustainability, stability and success to deliver on our strategies for the community.

As a part of the Finance, Risk and Commercial team, the Risk and Assurance Adviser will play a pivotal role in supporting the Risk and Assurance Manager with the risk and assurance function and associated actions across Beyond Blue.

Beyond Blue is required to meet a broad range of mandated risk and compliance requirements as well as manage a wide array of day-to-day operational risks. Our approach to risk management is aligned with the Australian and international guidance standard AS ISO 31000: 2018 Risk Management – Guidelines. To be effective in this environment, risk management and compliance must be undertaken consistently within a well-structured and understood framework that provides adequate transparency, oversight and action.

The Risk and Assurance Adviser will support the Risk and Assurance Manager who’s relied upon as the organisation’s centre of expertise for risk and compliance matters and provides the Executive Team, Board and Board subcommittees with appropriate advice and reporting to ensure that risk and compliance requirements are understood, obligations are met, and performance is clear.

With extensive experience in a similar role or alternatively as a potential first move from an accounting or professional services firm, you will review and support systems and procedures to appropriately manage risk including assess, monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk controls. The appointee will have a strong understanding of, and experience with, risk management standards and theory as well as the ability to respond and adapt to change, be open and broad minded to work with teams across the organisation to advise on the optimal risk mitigation plans/recommendations and gain support from colleagues. Your demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively will underpin your ability to make recommendations where existing policies and procedures may require review.
