About this Position

The Fundraising Adviser is responsible for supporting the strategic development of marketing, communications, acquisition, engagement and retention plans for peer-to-peer fundraisers taking part in challenge events (sporting events like fun runs or triathlons).

A foundational pillar in Beyond Blue’s fundraising team, the community fundraising program represents upwards of $5 million each year, comprising of thousands of fundraisers across Australia completing their individually designed fundraising activities. Due to the nature of the role, attendance at 4-6 weekend and out of office hours events per annum will be required.

The role

The key duties of the role include:

Challenge Events

  • Develop and implement project plans for approximately 10 large challenge events and several smaller events each year covering deliverables of marketing, fundraiser engagement, volunteers, ambassadors and event day logistics (where applicable)
  • Enhance and improve upon existing communications journeys for fundraisers, using knowledge of tested peer-to-peer fundraiser communication, gamification and incentive-based strategies
  • Develop innovative fundraiser engagement and marketing plans for a growing number of virtual and hybrid events
  • Support the Community Fundraising Manager with reporting on finances, engagement, and marketing results
  • Liaise with external event organisers and be across event package selection, contracts and deliverables, including raising purchase orders and submitting invoices for processing by Finance team.
  • Work closely with internal Strategic Marketing, Social Media, Marketing Automation, CRM, Events, Volunteers, and Speakers and Ambassadors teams to develop and implement strategy.

Community Fundraising and General

  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors and fundraisers through inbound phone calls and emails to shared fundraising inbox.
  • Work with the team to ensure all donor and fundraiser calls and emails are answered.
  • Monitor all fundraising activities to ensure compliance with Beyond Blue fundraising guidelines, applicable regulations and laws, satisfaction of participants and/or partners, and resolution of any problems that arise.
  • Triage fundraising, business supporter, partnership, volunteer, speaker and event queries and liaise with relevant internal teams.
  • Focus on supporting fundraisers and donors on their fundraising journey by offering guidance and resources.
  • Manage a selection of high-value fundraisers, providing them extra support and stewardship.
  • Ensure fundraisers use the ‘Proudly Supporting Beyond Blue’ logo / brand appropriately.
  • Effectively manage data within the donor management system (Salesforce), and third-party fundraising platforms, ensuring all data is clean, imported and coded correctly, whilst maintaining business rules.
  • Effectively collaborate with other fundraising team members promoting knowledge sharing.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including internal fundraising areas, Marketing and Communications and external industry experts.
  • Work across the organisation to identify opportunities to complement challenge events, community fundraising and other fundraising activities.
  • Work with the Events & Volunteers team to coordinate event logistics ensuring a strong Beyond Blue presence at selected events.
  • Support the Community Fundraising Manager with recommendations on program improvement, reporting (as needed) and executing strategy.
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly, undertaking additional duties as required.
  • Work with the wider team, open incoming mail and prepare mail outs.

About you

To be successful you will hold a:

  • A tertiary qualification in a related discipline (marketing/fundraising/business development/ communications/ events)
  • Proven experience developing and implementing successful major events/campaigns with commercial or fundraising KPIs
  • Experience in the strategy, planning, development, implementation, evaluation, data analysis and reporting of community membership activities
  • Proven experience liaising with stakeholders, donors, community and/or businesses.
  • Experience in project planning, coordination, task and activity monitoring, and delivery against defined task objectives, methods and outcomes.
  • Experience in volunteer resource management and coordination;
  • Solid understanding and competence in using website content management systems, databases and other online technologies;
  • Experience implementing or working with internal teams or external agencies on digital marketing campaigns, with an understanding of multi-channelled campaigns to effectively engage target audiences.
  • Sound ability to write and produce impactful communications while considering audience segmentation and fundraising/commercial theory.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Willingness to commit to and work in line with the Beyond Blue values.
  • Proven ability to work within a high performing team while being a motivated self-starter
