Better Renting

About Better Renting

Now in its third year, Better Renting has campaigned successfully to make rental laws fairer and is well on the way to growing a community of renters who are empowered to defend and extend their rights. Better Renting has also embarked on a journey to change our cultural narrative around renting.

Better Renting is an independent not-for-profit organisation focused on rental rights issues in Australia. We are building a community of renters working together for stable, affordable, and healthy homes.

We emphasise the importance of stable, healthy and affordable homes, both by sharing stories of renters’ daily experiences and uncovering the injustices renters face in Australia through research. Our work is underpinned by the belief that renters are denied the rights and protections of homeowners and all Australians deserve a home – regardless of whether we own it or not – that keeps us healthy.
