About the role:

Bethany is seeking a Financial Counsellor with experience working in the area of family violence and economic abuse to join our experienced Financial Counselling team based in Warrnambool. The position will be co-located one day a week at a specialist family violence service. The position is also responsible for providing generalist financial counselling and financial counselling for people impacted by gambling related harm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct financial counselling support services for service users who have/are experiencing family violence, gambling harm or other issues utilising a developmental framework which empowers service users and strengthens their resilience.
  • Undertake the role of a financial counsellor including assessment and referral, negotiation and advocacy with creditors.
  • Provide individual, group and community based financial literacy sessions and education to improve financial wellbeing and resilience.
  • Provide financial counselling information and secondary consultation services for professionals especially those working in the family violence sector.
