About the role:

Bethany is excited to advertise for the role of Emergency Relief Worker based in Geelong. This position is full time fixed term until 30 June 2022. The core purpose of this role is to provide emergency relief and support for people experiencing financial difficulties across the Barwon and South West region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and support individuals and families seeking emergency relief for financial crisis.
  • Provide flexible and responsive service delivery including face to face, remote/telehealth and from other Bethany or co-located offices as required.
  • Where appropriate, refer service users to Financial Counsellors, other services within Bethany and other relevant Community Service agencies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry for all programs and reporting to all relevant funding bodies.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Degree or Diploma qualification in Social Work, Community Services or behavioural sciences discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide financial information and support to families and individuals in financial crisis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impact and issues related to financial crisis and the co-morbidities associated with financial disadvantage.
  • Understanding of working across diverse communities including CALD, LGBTI, Indigenous and Rural communities.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, advanced written and oral communication.
