BestLife Inc.

BestLife is a niche disability service provider. We support children and young adults living with disability to make friends, learn life skills and transition to independence. The key to helping our young people live their BestLife is our passionate committed team.

Being part of our BestLife team means knowing that you’re doing more than just ‘supporting’ people. You will bring a kind heart, capacity to deal with challenges, flexibility, a sense of fun, and an enthusiasm to help raise the bar in quality disability support.

Do you share our values, passion and the belief that we are all entitled to live our BestLife regardless of ability? Then send us your resume and cover letter outlining why you would like to join our team in a Senior Disability Support/SIL House Co-ordinator Role.

Your Role

We are building a new SIL team for 2 of BestLife's long term clients. There’s an opportunity for a passionate self starter with experience as a senior disability support worker and team leader to take a lead role and progress your career.

These 2 young adults have been practicing being good housemates 3 nights a month for the last several years. They are now ready to realise their dream to move out of their family homes and become permanent housemates in their own home in Coorparoo, Brisbane.

We are looking to create a support team to help them on this next step in their journey. You will:

  • Have the ability to understand and connect with them with flexibility and to use their preferred method of communication ( eg. Proloquo2Go, PODD)
  • Believe in possibilities, creative and reflective thinking and posses strong communication skills
  • Adhere to client’s individual support plans and complete NDIS documentation
  • Take the lead role as SIL House Co-ordinator i.e. manage a small team, update rosters and review client rosters of care
  • Have the availability to work some sleepover shifts each week

  • A well paid role in a great work environment with a great team - BestLife staff rate their work experience highly - 100% would recommend BestLife as a place to work!
  • Participate in BestLife‘s salary packaging offerings and QLeave portable long service leave
  • The opportunity to develop your career as BestLife rolls out more SIL services over 2022/2023
  • The chance to be a valued member of a small dedicated team making a real difference in the lives of young people living with disability
  • Be supported in the workplace by our highly skilled team to progressively develop knowledge and understanding of each clients needs and receive paid training in BestLife’s best practice support model.

You will need:

  • Current Driver’s License
  • Current First Aid Certificate, NDIS Screening Check and WWC
  • Previous experience in SIL or residential care
  • Knowledge of NDIS portal and documentation e.g. RoCs, SIL Guidelines
  • Experience with preparing rosters and overseeing and managing a small support team
  • Ability to work a mix of both daytime and sleepover shifts in the SIL24/7 home
  • And most importantly a passion and enthusiasm to help young people with disability create the regular independent lives they deserve!
