The Opportunity

Berry Street’s Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) is a provider and access point for integrated family violence services in the Northern Metro Melbourne sub-region. The service provides a range of support services to families who have experienced family violence.

The Specialist Family Violence Senior Supervisory Practitioner - Access & Tenancy will provide specialist case management to victim survivors of family violence and their children with the focus of securing and sustaining tenancies and long-term affordable housing.

This position is currently on a working from home arrangement due to the COVID-19 situation and the successful applicant will be expected to integrate into the team from home to begin with, slowly reintegrating into the office and performing outreach as Victorian restrictions are lifted.

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is managing stakeholder relationships with external housing providers through membership of various networks including the Local Area and working groups, along with providing housing information and referrals for victim survivors of family violence and their children.

The role is a senior position and will include supervisory responsibility for an Access & Tenancy Practitioner, along with providing secondary consultation to the family violence team.

About You

You will hold a tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor level) in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or related discipline and have an understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and its impact on victim survivors and their children.

The specialised level of this role will require the ability to be able to reflect and analyse complex situations arising in specialist family violence casework and the commitment to working collaboratively with the capacity to negotiate and liaise with other agencies and the community.

The Benefits

  • Additional salary packaging available for meals/accommodation.
  • Flexible work arrangements and generous leave conditions.
