The Opportunity

The Night Residential Unit Supervisor will provide supervision, support, coaching and mentoring to a team of Night Residential Care Workers across the region to ensure a high quality, therapeutically focused care.

In addition, the Night Residential Unit Supervisor will attend to and respond to queries, incidents and concerns from staff in a prompt manner. This role plays a vital part in ensuring overnight safety plans for young people in out of home care are met and will be based on-site from the Unit. Further to the Residential Care program, this position is also a key contact to respond to regional incidents in the broader Out of Home Care space.

This role works the following roster and applicants must be available for these set shifts:

Week One - Monday 8pm to 4am, Wednesday 8pm to 3:30am, Thursday 8pm to 3:30am and Friday 8pm to 3.30am.

Week Two - Monday 8pm to 4am, Tuesday 8pm to 3:20am, Wednesday 8pm to 3:30am, Thursday 8pm to 3:30pm, Saturday 8pm to 3:30am and Sunday 8pm to 3:30am.

The base pay rate for this role is $39.51 per hour (full time equivalent of $78k annually), however this role will attract penalty rates for all shifts as they are during the night and/or on weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the nightly operations of the Residential Unit.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to Residential Care Workers.
  • Comply with reporting requirements for program components.
  • Administration and accountability of annual budgets and program planning.
  • Embedding a therapeutic framework by overseeing best practice implementation of Children and Young People’s individual case management plans and fostering an outcomes-focused team.
  • Develop and assist with unit rosters.

About You

The successful applicant will ideally hold a minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a relevant qualification (Youth Work, Community Services or Alcohol & Other Drugs fields) as well as previous industry experience.

We are seeking someone who has the ability to identify opportunities for improved practice and can meet the flexible demands of the role. Previous experience leading a team would be advantageous.

You will have:

  • Provide direction for Residential Care Workers.
  • Teamwork – the ability and desire to work cooperatively with others as a team.
  • Sound oral and written communication skills.
  • Relationship building – the ability to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with others inside and/or outside the organisation.
