The Opportunity

The Manager, Early Intervention and Injury Management will work closely with the Head of Work Health and Safety the broader People and Culture team, Organisational Effectiveness and leadership teams across Berry Street to embed a culture of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

The role is a key leading and influencing figure to further develop Berry Street’s commitment to health and safety injury prevention and risk management strategies, and in particular Occupational Violence and Aggression (OVA). The role will be accountable for the development and implementation of an innovative Early Intervention framework, systems and processes that will support a safety prevention focussed culture.

The key components of the role include:

  • Design, develop and implement a strategic Early Intervention and Injury Management Framework.
  • Actively lead in the development and implementation of tailored policy, procedure and processes to facilitate early intervention, reasonable adjustment, injury management services and quality return to work programs. 
  • Foster an organisation-wide early intervention culture that will result in a reduction in workplace injury and illness, WorkCover claims and improved return to work outcomes for injured staff.
  • Act as the Relationship Manager with our WorkCover Consultant and Workers’ Compensation Insurer Work, along with the Senior Consultant WHS and leadership teams to ensure injury recovery and early return to work strategies are understood and applied.

About You

  • Bachelor degree qualification in Human Resources, Business Management, OHS/WHS, Allied Health or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience working and leading in injury management and workers’ compensation within a large, complex organisation.
  • Excellent project management and program management skills.
  • Previous experience working in early intervention and injury management and/or in a sector where OVA is a high risk would be looked upon favourably.
