The Opportunity

The Northern Family Services team is seeking a 0.8EFT Family Violence Advisor to sit within the Family Services Program. This unique role incorporates elements of Family Violence and Family Service expertise.

The primary objectives of the role are:

• To support case management of Family Services clients experiencing family violence including but not exclusive to care teams, attending court and advocacy with Police and other stakeholders.
• To increase capacity building by providing secondary consultation to the Family Services staff in the North East, concerning matters of family violence.

Key Responsibilities

This role is based at our Eaglemont office and provides consultations to mainstream Integrated Family Services agencies for clients and NEMA referrals for families experiencing family violence. The role utilises a gendered theory framework and child-centred family-focussed approach to engage parents and work towards building their capacity to provide for the safety, stability and development of their children in line with the Best Interests framework.

About You

You will have a tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor level) in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or related discipline and the ability to operate at an agency, inter-agency and cross-agency level. The experience to recognise and respond to family violence in both perpetrators and victim survivor cohorts is important factor of this role, along with knowledge of the landscape of family violence and other health and human services in the catchment.
