The Quality and Risk team holds a large portfolio that spans across the whole organisation. Specifically the Risk and Compliance team are responsible for internal compliance of current programs and process. This includes systems that govern quality, audit compliance and risk.

The Opportunity

Berry Street is seeking a dynamic Child Safe and Risk Consultant to strengthen our commitment to child safety and regulatory excellence across our programs.

In this new pivotal role, you will lead efforts to embed robust risk management and implement child safety systems throughout Berry Street. Collaborating closely with senior managers, program staff, and external stakeholders, you will support Berry Street to maintain the high standards of child safety.

  • Hybrid of WFH and office in Richmond on Wurundjeri Country
  • Full time, Permanent role
  • $106K + super and salary packaging

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and coordinate Berry Street’s legal requirements in context to relevant policies and procedures that relate to child safety. 
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior leadership and program staff to ensure Berry Street meets the Child Safe Standards. This includes keeping relevant stakeholders abreast of changes to legislative requirements, emerging themes and or trends, and supporting opportunities for improvement. 
  • Facilitate an organisational culture that is proactive in identifying, mitigating and managing risk through management and continuous improvement of risk management systems.
  • Support in the identification, assessment and monitoring of program risk registers, mitigation and improvement plans.

About You

  • You have a passion for child safety and have a sound understanding of Victorian child safety standards.
  • Keen eye for detail and identifying risk.
  • You are well versed in all aspects of Risk Management.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively within a team.
  • Confident with systems, reporting and analysing data.
  • Hold a Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Quality Management, Legal Studies, Compliance and Risk or related field and/or experience in similar field.
  • You will have excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook (Intermediate Level).
