The Opportunity

The Western Family Violence Service (WFVS) is the lead provider for the integrated family violence service system in the Central Highlands sub-region. The WFVS provides support services to victim survivors of family violence and their children inclusive of cis gendered heterosexual women and, their children; and people from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer Community (LGBTIQ+) and their children. WFVS provides a range of specialist family violence programs. The service aims to support victim survivors and their children to remain safely within their community and maintain a life free of violence while also addressing the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from the violence.

The fundamental function of The Orange Door (also known as the Support and Safety Hub) is to:

• Be a more visible and accessible contact point for service users requiring specialist support.
• Provide help for people to identify family violence and child wellbeing issues.
• Support to access justice and legal support.
• Offer advice based on contemporary risk assessment tools and guidance.
• Provide specialist support and tailored advice for victim survivors, families and children, and perpetrators.
• Connection and coordination of access to support.
• A system wide view of service capacity, client experience and outcomes.  

Key Responsibilities

The Advanced Family Violence Practice Leader is a clinical leadership position. The primary focus will be to provide specialist family violence expertise that drives an integrated response by supporting practitioners working with victim survivors of family violence and implementing perpetrator interventions.

The role will work in close partnership with the Hub Manager, other Practice Leaders (Integrated Practice Leader, Senior Child Protection Practitioner/s and Aboriginal Practice Leader) and Team Leaders to lead family violence practice in The Orange Door and support secondary consultations with internal and external service providers. 

The role will be responsible for providing practice leadership on risk assessment, risk management and planning for family violence and providing expert advice to The Orange Door workforce in relation to complex family violence cases and perpetrator interventions. The role will proactively build specialist evidence-based family violence knowledge and capability across The Orange Door workforce in line with The Orange Door Service Model and Integrated Practice Framework.

About You

You will have a minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, or a qualification in a related discipline along with experience in the field.

You will have experience in working with victim survivors and their children from diverse backgrounds who have experienced family violence and the ability and experience to undertake comprehensive risk assessments (TRAM or CRAF).
