The Position:

The Manager of the Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing (CCDA) is responsible for the leadership and delivery of programs that meet the objectives agreed with the Department of Health as part of the Centre’s work plan. The Centre provides expertise in supporting aged care providers to address the needs of older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, through the development and provision of information, training and resources about culturally inclusive practices in aged and community care services. This position is fixed-term, to 30 June 2021.

The ideal manager will show demonstrable experience in leading programs in this specialised field. Experience working with older people, community organisations or aged care services will serve you well in this role.

  • Oversee objectives agreed with the Department of Health under the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) program
  • Advocacy, Policy design and delivery of initiatives supporting aged care services to be more equitable and accessible to all older Australians
  • Maintain relationships with the Department of Health and manage external stakeholder relationships
  • Network and contribute to external advisory committees and advocate for older Australians from a Cultural and Linguistic background
  • Lead the design and delivery of training, workshops and expand understanding and application of the ‘Inclusive Service Standards’
  • Manage funding and budget for CCDA
  • Develop the annual program of work and submission of reports and funding applications

About you:

In this role you will bring drive and enthusiasm to support the development of a range of programs aligned with the Benetas Next Generation Strategy with special focus on providing knowledge and advice on diversity and inclusion for consumers.

  • Tertiary qualification at postgraduate level is highly desirable, along with experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated understanding of the barriers to inclusion faced by older people
  • Proven high level oral and written communication skills; including the ability to strategically collaborate and communicate with influence
  • High level of organisational, collaboration and coordination skills
  • Demonstrate experience in leading advocacy, policy and resource development
  • Experience in developing and running conferences and learning events
