The Position

Bendigo Community Health Services (BCHS) is seeking applications from people with experience in the following fields -Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Psychologist or Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker or Occupational Therapist, Alcohol and Other Drugs Clinician with dual diagnosis experience.

The position of Mental Health Clinician sits within the Mental Health Services team. The focus of the role is:

  • To support vulnerable people, including frontline health workers, older Australians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and those who are socially isolated or financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to access mental health services and supports;

  • Be part of a team establishing a mental health hub known as HeadtoHelp to provide on-site mental health support, including referrals to more intensive mental health care or social supports as needed, and;

  • You will deliver evidence-based clinical primary mental health care services and care coordination in line with a best practice stepped care approach.

BCHS’ Mental Health team provides a range of services including Generalist Counselling, Culturally Sensitive Counselling, Primary Mental Health Clinical Care Coordination (CCC’s), Psychological Treatment Services (PTS), PTS Child Mental Health, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). These newly created positions sit within the HeadtoHelp mental health hub and work alongside existing provided services. Service delivery within the hub includes provision of initial assessment and referral utilising IAR, on-gong assessment, case reviews, consumer referral, educational programs, service liaison, consumer advocacy and other tasks as identified to address consumer needs.

BCHS are seeking candidates who are creative, adaptive and innovative with a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with current registration with the Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with mental health credentialing or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with mental health accreditation or a willingness to work towards mental health accreditation. To be successful in these positions you must have a minimum of two years’ experience working in mental health.

The successful applicants will need to be able to work across rostered shifts including afterhours and weekends.
