About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a step up in your philanthropy career and relationship manage a portfolio of major donor partners with one of Sydney’s most well known and loved charities.

This role is a key part of the team responsible for managing existing donors with the capacity to give from $10K per annum.

Focussed on income generation, donor engagement and helping partners receive a suitable and consistent level of recognition, this role will promote opportunities to existing major donors across Sydney.

As a member of the Philanthropy team, the Relationship Officer - Major Gifts works closely with others in the Engagement and Philanthropy teams to deliver donor stewardship activities that reinforce engagement and provide acquisition opportunities and/or donor recognition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100-150 existing donors
  • Develop and implement qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for assigned donor pool
  • Work with stakeholders to identify and prioritise areas of funding need
  • Match funding opportunities to donor interests in order to maximise donation potential
  • Ensure each donor has a personalised and strong relationship with the organisation that is built on mutual respect and sensitivity to the donor’s needs and interests
  • Build relationships with clinicians and researchers to maximise donor engagement and help build donor referrals
  • Give donors the opportunity to have a deeper relationship with the Foundation; are regularly stewarded through engagement activities, and receive feedback and acknowledgement
  • Monitor, manage and evaluate all major gifts project outcomes providing regular, accurate and clear feedback to the donor

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising principles, techniques and strategies, in a similar role in major gifts/mid value/annual giving
  • Experience in managing (and building on) donor relationships either through telephone or face to face activities
  • Proven ability to plan, develop, deliver and monitor large projects with evidenced success in achieving agreed outcomes and timelines
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate, be persuasive and develop trust, and manage a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write high quality cases for support/proposals and make engaging presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and to collaborate across teams to achieve enhanced outcomes
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple projects
