About the Organisation

The Garvan Research Foundation is the fundraising and marketing arm of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. The Foundation is tasked with raising and administering vital funds from individuals, trusts and foundations and corporate and community groups. It is also responsible for delivering Garvan's public engagement and awareness activities.

It is through the Foundation’s fantastic efforts that they have had remarkable success over the years and as a result, the team is excited to be growing in 2022! The expansion across the fundraising and marketing programs will support and build on the success and momentum of recent years and plan for future growth.

Role Summary

The Foundation’s Regular Giving activities focus on donor acquisition and retention. The channels utilised are telemarketing (TM), face to face fundraising (F2F) and digital including email and social media.

The Regular Giving Coordinator will implement industry best practice and test innovative strategies aimed at increasing acquisition and retention of regular giving donors, in particular coordinating the Foundation’s F2F and TM activities.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, skilled, and capable to work as a support and in collaboration with the Regular Giving Officer.

The Regular Giving Coordinator will have a busy and varied workload, meeting regular giving activity deadlines and to a high quality.

Key Responsibilities

Face to Face

  • Build robust relationships with agencies to ensure best practice fundraising practices are being implemented
  • Track sign ups and cancellations and work with agencies to ensure they are meeting KPI’s
  • Deliver accurate and timely reports across key metrics to give both operational and strategic oversight of the performance of the F2F program
  • Monitor fundraising territory and state/regional fundraising licences
  • Coordinate donor and fundraiser stock and collateral efficiently

Telemarketing

  • Liaise with telemarketing agencies on a day-to-day and weekly basis, including set up of new campaigns and/or agencies
  • Frequent monitoring of campaign results including the performance of telemarketing agency (listening to calls, feeding back to agency) and quality of lead provision
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at increasing initial response rate of telemarketing acquisition including:
    • Maintaining enthusiasm of agency and agents
    • Improving telemarketing scripts
    • Improving the quality of telemarketing leads

Digital Lead Generation

  • Work with 3rd party suppliers and the inhouse Digital team to plan and execute campaigns designed to acquire leads or direct regular givers, through digital sources including website, social media, and email

Reporting and Analysis

  • Review weekly dashboards to evaluate performance on all key metrics for regular giving
  • Work with Data team to monitor and review retention/attrition rates
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic records (Raiser’s Edge)

Skills & Attributes

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing and/or fundraising would be highly regarded
  • Previous experience in fundraising, particularly knowledge of regular giving and digital campaigns
  • Experience in data driven decision making
  • Ability to multitask, show initiative and adapt to change
  • Results orientated and motivated to put ideas to practice
  • Demonstrate a “can-do” attitude
  • Proven database use, Raiser’s Edge a bonus
  • Meticulous with attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with suppliers
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent computer literacy, including intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
