About our client:

The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Enterprise, Investment & Trade, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite.

About the role:

You will report to the Manager, Strategy and Development and support a strong donor prospect pipeline with prospective donor identification, research and report writing to drive philanthropic giving.

You will be hands-on with prospect research as well as develop and implement strategies to support fundraising objectives for the AM.

  • Develop proactive strategies and tools to find new leads and prospects and do the necessary research to follow up on those leads.
  • Create high-quality donor reports, based on a range of sources, for both potential and current contributors (including briefing notes, engagement strategy, and other internal and external resources)
  • Provide ongoing support and information as prospective donor relationships are being developed
  • Create dynamic reports to monitor and track progress, success, and trends in order to empower the team and give feedback to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Be a subject matter expert of the CRM – Tessitura, be able to coach on best practise database management (such as record-keeping, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and privacy of the database) to support relationships management and revenue growth

The successful candidate:

You will understand the principles of fundraising (you may even be a current fundraiser looking to specialise in a new area) and have the confidence and experience to provide strategic advice in a newly developing function to support a growing Development portfolio.

  • Strong analytical and research skills as well as conducting research on databases/various platforms (ie: websites, publications and various media) and creating insights/improved processes on your findings
  • High-level data management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to gather and report on large amounts of information in a timely and articulate manner
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (with sensitivity to personal information/privacy)
